Subject: PC-NFS 5 and Microsoft TCP/IP 32 ????
I have Installed Microsoft TCP/IP 32 Beta (daytona) and it works fine.
Is there any updated drivers for PC-NFS version 5 to work with Microsofts
winsock driver?
Thank!!!

I spent a couple of nonproductive hours one weekend trying to figure out
if I could run Mosaic to access WWW over netcom through a regular dialup
account. After ftping what I thought were all the components I needed,
I ran into the wall of trying to figure out which winsock packet driver
I needed. All the ones I found required a network card of some sort,
which I don't have; I'm dialing in on a regular phone line.
If SLIP or PPP is a requirement for running Mosaic in this configuration,
none of the documentation along the way makes that obvious (as far as I
could tell), and even a Wired 2.01 (p.136) article on Mosaic fails to mention
it.
So, for the bottom line, once again, is SLIP or PPP *required* to run
Mosaic to access WWW over a regular phone line through a service provider
such as Netcom? (Thanks in advance.)

Can you provide a couple of titles?

Subject: Will help setup SLIP for food;)
Hello all newbies,
After spending a month setting a SLIP connection to my
school system with complete capabilities(i.e. mosaic, e-mail, ftp,
fsp, news, and soon gopher and chat) I am willing to help people
looking for a similar setup using trumpet winsock, preferably for
a small donation since I have'nt found a summer job yet. Well if
you are interested send some mail to my address at nwb@acs.bu.edu
If you expect most of your simple questions to be answered here it
will take much longer to set yourself up!
Sincerely,
Noel Bracero

It's in the WIN.INI file.

You need to install packet driver software for your ethernet card, you
can use the ncsa set. Next, you'll need to load the winpkt driver so it
points to the same location you loaded your packet driver (usually 0x60).
Then you can load winsock.
If you've done all of that, make sure that you're actually loading the
packet driver --with the proper invocation for the network card you're
using. If that's right, check to see if you have a memory conflict.
Hope this helps.
